CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL APPROVES INDOOR REC FACILITY RESOLUTION DRAFT

Thursday night, the Crossville City Council approved a draft of a resolution for a proposed indoor recreational facility. Now that resolution will go before the Cumberland County Commission at their upcoming monthly meeting. The proposal, drafted by City Attorney Will Ridley, stipulates that the city would provide up to 18 acres of land for the facility in exchange for the county providing the construction costs at no more than $20 million. The city would oversee the daily operation with both the city and county sharing in maintenance costs. Should commissioners approve the draft, it would mean that the resolution would be submitted to the election commission in the form of a referendum for voters to approve in the November election. However, the draft was not unanimously approved with Council Member Pete Souza casting a vote against.
