It was all a lie.

IHOP said the whole IHob name change was fake.

The restaurant known for its pancakes tweeted Monday the only reason they said they were changing their name on June 11 was to “promote our new burgers.”

The company Twitter page featured this message today: “We’re giving away 60¢ short stacks on July 17 from 7a-7p for IHOP’s 60th birthday. That’s right, IHOP! We’d never turn our back on pancakes (except for that time we faked it to promote our new burgers.

IHOP even changed its Twitter bio to say, “if at first you don’t pancake…pancake, pancake again.”

Wendy’s, who called out IHOP when they first announced the meaning of the “b,” said they weren’t surprised by the lie.
