A driver told Kentucky State Police a boy pinned under his truck in a Friday accident ran into his path and he couldn’t stop his truck in time.

KPS responded to the scene near Log Mountain Auto Sales just outside of Pineville. Troopers said 68-year-old Larry Elliott of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, was driving through a car was parking lot toward U.S. 25E southbound when the 9-year-old boy ran out into his path.

The boy fell under Elliott’s 2002 Ford pickup, where he became pinned beneath its rear tire. Elliott told troopers that several tire racks in the area obstructed his vision and he didn’t see the child in time.

Bell County EMS treated the child at the scene before he was taken to Middlesboro ARH for treatment. KSP said he’ll likely be transferred to UT Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, for further treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

No criminal charges were filed against Elliott or the boy’s guardian, but the investigation is still ongoing.
