On December 28th, a man tried to pass a stolen check at One Bank in Crossville.
The bank teller told authorities that a man named Tyler Roach was dropped off by a Gray/Black Chrysler 300 and walked up to the drive-through and stated he wanted to deposit a check and wanted cash. The check was from Cumberland Fellowship and the man told the bank employees that he had done some electrical work for them. The check was for $4,000 and the name on the check was not on the account. The bank teller told him to come inside to speak more in-depth while an employee phoned the account holder. The account holder stated he did not write the check and do not authorize it.
While looking at the check, there were numbers missing, misspelled words, and addresses that did not exist in Crossville. After authorities arrived and investigated, Tyler Roach, of Knoxville, was charged with criminal simulation. Dispatch also confirmed he did have a warrant out of Hamblen County and will place a hold and would extradite.
