Cumberland County, TN- On Saturday evening, a deputy responded to a residence out in Tansi to assist with investigating a DUI of an Instacart Driver.

Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the driver, Richard Ochsenrider, who was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle in the driveway with the engine still running. When making contact with Mr. Ochsenrider, he asked him why he was at the residence, he informed the deputy that he worked for Instacart and was delivering a grocery order to the residence, but couldn’t get anyone to come to the door. Later, when he asked which address he was delivering the groceries to, he told the deputy an address that was actually a few streets over. While speaking with Richard, the deputy did detect the smell of alcohol coming from his person and observed that he had red, watery eyes. The deputy asked Mr. Ochsenrider how much alcohol he had on this day and he said that he hadn’t drunk any today. Richard agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and exited the vehicle.

After not passing, Mr. Ochsenrider then allegedly told the deputy that he had been drinking and that he had “probably had too many” and that he was “probably over the legal limit.”

In the front passenger seat of his vehicle, the deputy located 4 empty shot bottles of 99-proof Peppermint Liqueur and 4 more full shot bottles. On the passenger floorboard were 2 more empty shot bottles of the 99-proof Peppermint Liqueur.

Richard Ochsenrider was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
