Cumberland County deputies were dispatched to Mayland Road and Wightman Road for a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday. Before arriving, a passerby stated she saw a female walking away from the crashed vehicle. When the authorities arrived, they did not see the female.
Shortly after arriving at the accident scene, dispatch received a call from Kimberly Walker who wanted to report her vehicle had been stolen. According to the report, Kimberly sounded frantic stating she was helping a friend build a fence in the woods off Wightman Road and left her car parked by the gate. She alleged she had been in the woods for two hours before returning to find the vehicle missing. She told authorities she had left the keys inside the console of the car. It was noted that Kimberly sounded out of breath and frantic about the vehicle. When the deputy tried to explain to her where the vehicle was, she sounded confused and did not understand his instructions on how to get to where the car was, which was within walking distance of her current location.
When making contact with Kimberly, she stated that she was not the owner of the vehicle, but was allowed to drive it.
When contacting the owner of the vehicle, he stated that Kimberly drives his car all the time and she stated to him that she was driving when another vehicle ran her off the road and wrecked his car in the ditch, but was going to have a friend pull the car out with his truck. According to the call records, this call was made before she called 911 dispatch about the stolen vehicle.
55-year-old Kimberly Ann Walker was arrested for making a False Report of a Motor Vehicle Accident and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Her bond is $7,000.
