Last week, a Cumberland County deputy was traveling on Highway 70 north when they observed a white Silverado traveling 80mph in a 55mph speed zone. After the deputy turned around, the driver continued at a high rate of speed and appeared to be evading the traffic stop.

The driver made an abrupt right onto Creston Road and then onto West Creston Road. When the driver finally stopped the vehicle in the roadway, he was identified as 33-year-old Adam Thomas. He exited with his hands up, stating that, “he was trying to get home because he had to pee.” However, deputies noticed he had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.

Mr. Thomas was taken to intake for evading the cops and a blood sample was taken to test for possible DUI. A crushed beer can and a small amount of marijuana was found in the back seat of his vehicle.

Adam Thomas is being charged with Evading Arrest, Driving Under the Influence, and issued a citation for speeding.
