According to a press release from the Algood Police Department, a body has been found and may be related to a missing person case.
On Thursday, the Algood Police Department responded to an apartment complex in reference to a death. When officers arrived, they discovered a body in a severe state of decomposition. Due to the condition of the body, identification was not readily available. There were no signs of a struggle but the cause of death is under investigation.
The body was transported to the Forensic Medical Center in Nashville for identification and cause of death. There is reason to believe that this investigation may be related to an ongoing missing person case.
Details and leads are being followed to determine the exact circumstances that lead to the death of this individual. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and aided in the investigation.
The Algood Police station says they are committed to seeing that this person is identified, and the cause of death determined.
