Around 9:30 Monday morning, a Cumberland County deputy observed a blue Chevy Cavalier speeding in the Westel area. However, when trying to conduct a traffic stop, the driver led deputies on a high-speed chase.

Dispatch stated that a male was driving the Chevy and a female was in the passenger seat. The couple ditched the Chevy along the way and decided to flee on foot into the woods towards Rockwood. Crossville city police brought a K-9 by the ditched car in hopes to find the two.

However, during this time a  Rockwood city officer observed a male matching the description coming out of the woods and attempting to get into a silver Saturn that pulled up next to them. As the officer stopped to turn around, the male subject decide to not get into the vehicle and pursued on foot across South Gateway Ave and into the woods on South Kingston Ave.

James Harrison Schillinger had a Failure to Appear out of Roane County and was arrested. He was charged with Resisting stop, frisk, halt arrest, or search (no weapon), obstructing service of process.
