A Golf Tournament is set to take place Friday, Aug. 9 with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., and entry is $25 per person. The Tournament is held in memory of "Sammy Joe" Sherrill who passed away last year due to complications from chemotherapy treatments.
Donated prizes are available to win, including an anonymous donation of two $25 gift cards. Attendees can buy a $5 mulligan as part of a scholarship fund for a high school student in Cumberland County. There is also a "Hey Diddle Diddle" bullseye hole, with a $100 prize money donated by Sammy Joe's former golf partner.
Currently, 52 people are registered, with more spots available.
Those wishing to donate after the event can do so at First National Bank on the corner of Main and Industrial and request to donate to the Sammy Joe Sherrill Memorial Scholarship Fund.
