2 MILLION FORD EXPLORER SUVs RECALLED FOR ISSUE WITH WINDSHIELD TRIM

Ford is recalling nearly 2 million Ford Explorer SUVs over an issue with a piece of the trim near the front of the windshield.

Officials say the metal piece that runs up the left and right side of the front windshield, along what is called the A-pillar, may not be properly hooked, allowing the trim to detach.

It presents a potential safety hazard and increases the risk of a crash.

All Ford Explorers, model years 2011 to 2019 are affected.

Federal safety regulators say letters will be sent to vehicle owners in March.

Dealers will inspect and fix the problem if needed for free.
