The Meigs County Sheriff’s Department as well as the Town of Decatur suffered a tremendous loss this morning. Mike Erwin passed away at his home with his family and friends by his side. Mike was a 30 year veteran of law enforcement from 1977 until 2008. Officials say 20 of those years was served as Chief Deputy and 10 years with the Decatur Police Department. The Meigs County Sheriff’s office ask that you keep Mike’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days ahead. Mike requested no formal visitation or service.

The sheriff’s department ended their statement with the following:

“We got it from here 302……..302 is clear”
