600,000 HYUNDAI AND KIA VEHICLES RECALLED FOR POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE RISK

Over 600,000 Hyundai and Kia vehicles are being recalled to address a brake fluid leak that could start an engine fire.

The recall affects more than 440,000 Kia Optima midsize sedans, model years 2013-2015 and Kia Sorento SUV’s, model years 2015-2015.

Also affected are 151,000 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV’s., model years 2013-2015.

A brake fluid leak inside a hydraulic control unit for the vehicles’ anti-lock brakes can cause an electrical short that could cause a fire.

Kia’s recall is set to start October 15, 2020 and Hyundai’s will begin October 23, 2020. Dealers will inspect the control units for leaks and will replace them as needed at no cost to the owner. Drivers can contact a Hyundai or Kia dealership for more information.
