TENNESSEE’S OLDEST TOWN GETS THE FASTEST BROADBAND

Jonesborough, Tennessee, is taking a massive leap forward, technologically speaking.
It’s Tennessee’s oldest town and it’s only the sixth place in the country to get sizzling-fast 10-gig fiber optic broadband. Chattanooga already has that access, which enables users to upload and download data at the same lightning-fast speeds.
BrightRidge, which announced the news Thursday, is working toward phasing in this service throughout Washington County.
BrightRidge CEO Jeff Dykes said the next target for the 10-gig service will be parts of Johnson City.
Other cities that already have the 10-gig residential internet service are Salisbury, North Carolina, Detroit, Minneapolis and southern Vermont.
