ASIAN CARP FISH STARTING TO CAUSE PROBLEMS ON TENNESSEE WATERWAYS

The Asian carp fish is starting to cause problems on Tennessee waterways. According to the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, Asian carp pose a threat to other fish and people when they make their way into lakes and rivers. They outcompete other fish for food and space. They can also injure people and cause damage to boats when they jump out of the water. The Asian carp fish is currently in the Guntersville Reservoir, which is south of Watts Bar. Wildlife officials say game fish populations will dwindle because of the Asian carp fish. That could end fishing and fishing tournaments. The economy of recreation and tourism could be impacted, including related small businesses, marinas, and lakeside rentals.
