Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said the suspect responsible for the hit and run death of a Maryville man December 6 turned himself in this morning (Monday, December 16, 2019). Officers say 22-year-old Jake Robert Walker of Maryville is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death on Peterson Lane near Old Niles Ferry Road . Walker is being held on a $50,000 bond pending a hearing in Blount County General Session Court at 9 a.m. December 23. The victim, 36-year-old Troy Christopher Sample, passed away at U.T. Medical Center from his injuries December 11. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges could be forthcoming.
