FISHING REPORT FOR WATTS BAR, DALE HOLLOW AND CENTER HILL – AUG. 20, 2020

WATTS BAR

Reservoir Conditions: The lake is at normal level. The water temperature is 85 degrees.

Crappie: Most crappie are being caught at night while fishing around lights. Minnows are the better bait. Jigs and spoons are also being used. Fish near bluff walls or docks.

Bass: Fishing is slow. Open water structure or shallow structure near deep water are the locations to target. Storms create opportunities where the creeks enter the lake. The fresh water will have a few bass. Crankbaits, plastic worms, jigs, and topwater lures used early and late round out the most used baits.

Catfish: Fishing is good. Drift in the main channel with meaty baits while the current is present.

Bluegill: Fish around docks or along rock bluffs. Use worms or crickets for bait.

Striped Bass: Use shad or artificial lures in the tailwater or upper river. Fishing is good.

Walleye : A few fish are being caught at night. The tailwater is fished more than other places for walleye. Live bait and artificial lures are being used.

DALE HOLLOW

Reservoir Conditions: Fishing is good. The water temperature is 84 degrees and the lake is falling.

Smallmouth Bass: Several smallmouth are being caught in the early morning on topwater baits while fish are chasing shad and feeding on mayfly hatches.

Largemouth Bass: A few largemouth are being caught on soft plastics and squarebill crankbaitse whil fishing shallow cover in 2-5 feet of water in the creeks.

Walleye: Lots of walleye are being caught while trolling nightcrawler rigs on flats in 30 feet of water.

CENTER HILL

Reservoir Conditions: Fishing is good water. The water temperature is 85 degrees and the lake is falling.

Bass: Several bass are being caught at night on spinnerbaits and soft plastics while fishing drops and channel banks in 20 feet of water.

Walleye: A few good walleye are being caught while trolling nightcrawlers on flats in 25 feet of water near Floating Mill.

Catfish: A few catfish are being caught on trotlines while baiting with bluegill in 15 feet of water.
