Judge Jeff Wicks has sentenced John Wesley Bennett to serve time in prison for a fatal hit and run crash in Meigs County back in 2016. Bennett pleaded guilty in December 2019 to eight charges related to the deaths of 38-year-old Andrew Blackford of Murfreesboro, 37-year-old Samantha Norris of Maynardville, 36-year-old Christopher Denton of Dunlap and 62-year-old Paula Stevens of Dunlap. Bennett additionally received time to serve for dealing meth. Bennett has been in jail for four years prior to the sentence. He must serve 30 percent of the total 24 years to become eligible for parole.
