Sevierville Police Department detectives have charged 32-year old Brittney Swafford of Bradley County with second-degree murder in the death of 44-year old Samuel R. Lane. Swafford also faces tampering with evidence

On August 12, 2020, Sevierville police responded to a single vehicle crash on Interstate 40 East near exit 407. Officers found the driver, identified as Lane, deceased in the automobile. Authorities later determined Lane’s death was criminal in nature.

Investigators also arrested 29-year old Billie Perry of Bradley County for tampering with evidence and accessory after the fact.

The investigation is ongoing.
