A WARMING TREND COMING

Looking at the official low temperature this morning the coldest reported was 24 degrees in Sumner County near the Gallatin area. 25 degrees in Jamestown and 26 in Byrdstown and parts of Cumberland County. We recorded 27 degrees in downtown Crossville. Sunny skies and warmer for Tuesday with highs in the upper 50s and then Sunshine and 65 on Wednesday. Right now dry weather is in the forecast through the weekend with highs in the 70s by Saturday and Sunday. We finished the month of October about two degrees above normal on temperatures and rainfall was about 2 inches above normal across Cumberland County with amounts ranging from 6 and 1/2 inches in Crossville to 9 inches in Fairfield Glade. 54 years ago today on November 2nd 1966 a freak snowstorm hit Middle Tennessee and the plateau with 15 inches in Cookeville, 10 in Livingston and Monterey and 7 inches in Crossville. These are still the record snowfall for November
