CLETA MAE STEELE, AGE 87

Cleta Mae Steele, age 87, of Crossville, peacefully passed away at Hospice of Cumberland County. She was born January 2, 1934, and spent her early years travelling in support of her husband, Raymond (Bud) Steele, who was in the Air Force. They retired to their hometown of Crossville in 1975. Cleta was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and served as Treasurer and Director of Children’s Camp as well as singing in the choir. She also volunteered with the Red Cross, NCO Wives Club, the SMILE program, and the Rural Cumberland Resources among many others. She enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing, painting, crocheting, and traveling. Cleta was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Beulah Boatman; husband: Bud Steele; brother: Carl Boatman; and sister: Maxine Martin. She is survived by her children: Mike Steele (Susan) and Lisa Terry (Carl); sisters: Mary Vandever, Sue Brown, and Anne Turbett; and grandchildren: Matthew Steele (Laura), Rachel Napier, Nathaniel Napier, Maleia Terry, Autumn Terry, Adam Steele, and Jacquie Aldridge. A memorial service is planned at a later date. Obituary by Hood Funeral Home in Crossville.
