SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER RAMMING LAW ENFORCEMENT CRUISERS WITH A U-HAUL

Putnam County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded last Friday (March 19, 2021) to a suspicious U-Haul truck backed in at the Dollar General on Smithville Highway.

While officers attempted to identify the subjects the male driver, 35-year-old Matthew Francis Callaghan, reportedly sped off and rammed into two patrol vehicles on scene. Callaghan and a passenger, 34-year-old Amanda Lynn Cobb, fled on foot and got away after exiting the vehicle in front of the store. Despite the damage to patrol vehicles, no deputies were harmed.

Law enforcement would encounter the suspects again Sunday (March 21, 2021) just a short distance from the Dollar General after they allegedly tried to carjack a motorist and threatened to stab him.

Callaghan was arrested for with vandalism, carjacking, possession of methamphetamine, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, evading arrest, criminal impersonation, and being a felony fugitive from justice (Kentucky).

Cobb was charged with criminal impersonation, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, evading arrest, carjacking, and being a felony fugitive from justice (Kentucky).
