NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ISSUES FLOOD ADVISORY

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Flood Advisory for South Central Loudon County, Southeastern McMinn County, Western Monroe County, and Northeastern Polk County until 1:45 p.m. eastern today (Monday, June 7, 2021).

Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain from thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly between Etowah and Madisonville and possibly northern Monroe County. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen in the past 2 hours in parts of the advisory area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Sweetwater, Loudon, Madisonville, Etowah, Englewood, Vonore, Tellico Plains, Philadelphia, Mount Vernon, Bullet Creek and Tellico Village.

Locations between Etowah and Madisonville is the most likely place to experience minor flooding. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area during the next hour or two. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
