STORMS AND HEAT

We will continue to see a 40% chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms through Friday and some of those will produce Gusty wind along with very heavy downpours and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. The chance of rain only goes higher this weekend and early next week as tropical storm Fred is expected to come from the Gulf of Mexico. The heat and humidity will continue through the next 48 hours with high temperatures near 90 on the plateau and mid-90s elsewhere and heat index over 100 in some areas that don’t get the rain. Don’t forget the meteor shower coming up Thursday night if the clouds give us a break with best viewing time from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.
