More than 125 Tennessee National Guard’s 1175th Transportation Company soldiers departed today for a year-long deployment to the U.S./Mexico border.

The 1175th is based in Tullahoma.

The unit is going to McAllen, Texas, along the border, where they will assist the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency to prevent illegal entry into the United States and deter illicit activity or other threats.
