TBI TEN MOST WANTED SUSPECT FOUND DECEASED

The search for a suspect on the TBI Ten Most Wanted list has ended.

Agents say John Drake Jr., the man accused of shooting two La Vergne police officers, has been found dead.

According to the TBI, the cause of death for Drake appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities responded to the 1400 block of 15th Avenue South in Nashville last night. Officers heard a muffled gunshot from an outbuilding where they later found Drake Jr. deceased.

Investigators said an autopsy will be performed.

La Vergne Police Chief Chris Moews said the shooting involved two officers at the front of a Dollar General off Stones River Road.

Drake reportedly shot Officer Gregory Kern and Officer Ashley Boleyjack when they were investigating a stolen car identified by a license plate reader camera. An altercation ensued when the officers encountered the suspect.

Officers struggled with Drake Jr.

During that struggle, Drake Jr. allegedly fired shots.

Both Officer Boleyjack and Officer Kern have been released from the hospital.

The incident sparked a three-day manhunt for Drake.
