TIMOTHY R. HICKMAN, AGE 77

Timothy R. Hickman, age 77, passed away October 24, 2023, at his home in Crossville with his son at his side following a brief illness.

A Spring City High School graduate, he attended and played baseball at Hiwassee College until joining the U.S. Navy and serving in the Vietnam War.

Tim worked 30 years as a unit operator for TVA at multiple locations including Watts Bar, John Sevier, and New Johnsonville Steam Plants. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors, which included feeding the wildlife around his home.  Whether it be deer, turkeys, birds, foxes, or skunks, they would start encroaching on the house if he wasn’t out there by feeding time.

He was always up on current events and never shied away from writing to the editors of the local papers, electric cooperatives, and state and federal legislators.  Tim was a lifelong TN Vols and Atlanta Braves fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years: Joy Newby Hickman; parents: James Hickman and L. Faye Hickman; and father-in-law: Earl Newby.

He is survived by his son: Bo (Blair) Hickman and daughter Jennifer (Michael) McDaniel; grandchildren: Zach (Karleigh) Hancock, Hernando, MS, Katelyn McDaniel, Memphis and Matthew McDaniel, Knoxville. He is also survived by his sister Debbie (Barry) Calhoun, Rockwood, MI and mother-in-law Viola Newby, Spring City as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
