GENE HARLOW CHADWICK, AGE 88

Gene Harlow Chadwick, age 88, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Soddy-Daisy Health Care Center in Soddy-Daisy. He was born on December 28, 1935, in Dayton, the son of the late Carl Ray Chadwick and Goldie Jane (Brady) Chadwick. He was also preceded in death by his daughter: Susan Fox; and his brother: Morris Chadwick.
Gene was a long-time resident of Dayton except when he lived in Battle Creek, Michigan from 1943 until 1977. He was a graduate of Rhea Central High School. He was the owner-operator of Tennessee Cable Company, installing underground cables. Gene was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church.
Gene is survived by his wife of 51 years: Clara Jane (Mason) Chadwick of Dayton; daughters: Caryl (Robert) Shanks of Richmond, Virginia, Barbara (John) Henderson of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Jean (Lewis) Burgess of Salisbury, North Carolina; sons: William Fox of Salisbury, North Carolina, Rodney Chadwick of Richmond, Virginia, and Mark (Melissa) Chadwick of Keysville, Virginia; and his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Layne Pennington officiating. He will be laid to rest in Faith Gardens at Buttram Cemetery after the service.
