TDEC ISSUES AIR QUALITY WARNING FOR NASVILLE

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is issuing an Ozone Code Orange Air Quality Alert for the Greater Nashville MSA, valid for tomorrow, Monday, August 26, 2024.
Ozone values are beginning to increase due to dry and sunny weather, with little wind and low humidity. These weather conditions allow pollutants to build up in our atmosphere and react with sunlight, leading to the creation of ground-level ozone.
Tomorrow, we expect another day of hot and stagnant weather conditions allowing ozone levels to reach the Orange (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups) AQI level in the Greater Nashville area.
The following groups should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion:
• People with lung disease, such as asthma
• Children and older adults
• People who are active outdoors
