Donnie “DP” Paul, 83

Celebration of Life Services for Donnie “DP” Paul, age 83, of Baxter, Tennessee, formerly of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 4:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Floyd will officiate. Full Military Honors will be provided by Ft. Campbell Honor Guard. Mr. Paul was born on Monday, April 14, 1941, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, to the late William Ollie Paul and Edith L. Buckner Paul Barner. Mr. Paul passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at his home. Mr. Paul was a United States Army Captain serving during post-war Korea and Vietnam. He retired with 22 years of service in the United States Army and was a Green Beret and master parachutist. He was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, four (4) bronze stars with “V” device for gallantry in action, two (2) Army Commendation Medals with “V” device for valor in action, various service medals, including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for combat in an undeclared war. He rose through the enlisted ranks and was commissioned as an officer after eight (8) years of service. He was a distinguished graduate of the Infantry OCS. He was a life member of VFW 6277, Chapter 117 of the Disabled American Veterans, where he also served as Commander and Vietnam Veterans of America. He attended Mariam College in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Following his retirement from the US Army, he worked as a police officer, school teacher and ran his own consulting business for manufacturing companies. He worked with Honeywell Avionics and Paradyne Corporation in Florida. He loved golfing, fishing, and traveling. He was Pentecostal in Faith. He and Terry were baptized at Lighthouse Church in Rickman. They attended several churches in the area. He is survived by his wife, Terrie Simmons Paul of Baxter, TN; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Dawn Renee’ and John Langfritz of Clearwater, FL, Dawn-Marie Reneh Arquette of Flat Rock, MI; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Michael A. and Michelle Paul of Largo, FL; 3 grandsons, Kenneth Arquette, Christopher Arquette, and Brandon Paul; 2 great granddaughters, Destynee Beckesh and Haile Arquette; 1 great grandson, Gavin Arquette; 1 stepson, Joshua Barnes of Cookeville, TN; and 1 sister, Nancy L. Kastl of Dayton, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William A. Paul; maternal grandparents, Dillard and Laura Buckner, who raised him; and grandson, Jason T. Paul. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be given to Wounded Warrior Project. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 3:00 PM until time of services at 4:00 PM. Arrangements and Care provided by D.M.
