HUNSTVILLE AL, MISSING MAN’S VEHICLE FOUND NEAR I-40

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – The Huntsville Police Department has released more information on the disappearance of a Huntsville real estate agent.

Police said a missing persons report was filed for Ronald Dumas with the department on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Authorities said according to the report, the last time someone spoke to Dumas was on Sunday, Dec. 15 around 10 p.m. on a phone call.

According to the report, police believe he was out with others while on the phone call, according to the report. On Dec. 16, the Tennessee Highway Patrol found Dumas’ vehicle on the side of Interstate 40 and impounded it.

During the impoundment, police said the vehicle was not occupied.

Police have communicated with several people close to Dumas, but say none of them were with him on Dec. 15, the date of his disappearance.

There is no indication that Dumas is in danger at this time, according to Huntsville Police. They say this because they believe there is “no driving force that is leading [them] to believe that Dumas has been the victim of a crime.”

Officials have outlined the days following Dumas’ disappearance:

  • Dec. 16 – Dumas’ vehicle was located near mile marker 133 near Camden, TN. Tennesse Highway Patrol (THP) impounded the vehicle after receiving reports of the abandoned vehicle.
  • Dec. 17 – Dumas was reported missing to HPD. Detectives attempted to call his phone numbers, The cell phones were not on.
  • Dec. 18 – THP learned that the vehicle that was impounded was about a missing person. Multiple state troopers were dispatched to mile marker 133 to search on foot for Dumas.
  • Dec. 19 – HPD continued to gather more information about Dumas including sending requests for the location history of his cell phones to his cell service providers.
  • Dec. 20 – The lead investigator traveled to Camden, TN to survey the location of mile marker 133 and look at Dumas’ vehicle.
  • Dec. 20 – THP committed state troopers, a helicopter and two Tennessee Bureau Investigative agents to help search and collect information.

Dumas’ cell location history revealed that at 6:08 a.m. on Dec. 16, his cell phone was traveling West on I-40 past mile marker 133.

This has given investigators a reason to believe that someone was following Dumas or that a motorist stopped and helped him continue his travels.

The mother of Dumas’ children, Talia Berryhill is not convinced with HPD’s idea that Dumas isn’t in any danger.

“I don’t understand why they’re under the impression he just walked away,” Berryhill said. “Ronnie doesn’t walk away from family. That is not who he is. Something is wrong. And I need them to become serious about this.”

Officials say Dumas has family in Chicago and they know his cell phones are not on.

The Huntsville Police Department urges those who were with Dumas on the night of his disappearance to come forward with more information.
