BICYCLE COMPONENTS RECALLED; FALL HAZARD

Specialized Bicycle Components has issued a recall for approximately 32,400 Vado and Como IGH E-Bikes with chain guards in the U.S. (plus 3,200 in Canada and 190 in Mexico) due to a fall hazard. The recall was announced on March 27, 2025. The issue is that the protective chain/belt guard does not fully cover the belt drive, allowing loose clothing to get caught and potentially causing the rider to fall. The affected e-bikes feature an internal gear hub (IGH) and no rear derailleur and come in various colors with the “Specialized” brand name on the frame. Model numbers are listed on the serial number label.

Consumers should stop using these e-bikes immediately and contact an authorized Specialized retailer for a free repair, which involves installing an updated chain/belt guard. The company is reaching out to known buyers directly. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The e-bikes were sold from March 2021 to November 2024 for $3,250 to $5,750 at authorized retailers and online. They were manufactured in Vietnam and Taiwan, and imported by Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. of Morgan Hill, California. For more details, contact Specialized at 877-808-8154, [email protected], or visit their website. The recall number is 25-200.
