AROUND 224,100 JEWELRY KITS RECALLED; CHEMICAL HAZARD

LaRose Industries has recalled approximately 224,100 Cra-Z-Art Gemex/Gel2Gem Jewelry Kits due to a hazard posed by the liquid resin contained in the kits. The resin, which includes hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA) in amounts exceeding federal limits for children’s products, can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation or sensitization if inhaled, touched, or ingested while in its liquid form. The recall, announced on March 27, 2025, involves 10 models of jewelry kits and one refill pack sold between January 2023 and September 2024 at various retailers, including Target, Walmart, and Amazon, for $13 to $36.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the kits and contact LaRose Industries for a full refund. The company is directly notifying known purchasers. Once the resin is fully cured, it no longer poses a risk, but any jewelry with liquid residue should not be worn and must be kept away from children. No incidents or injuries have been reported.
