William Howard “Redeye” Laymance, 73

Jackson – William Howard “Redeye” Laymance, 73, of Wartburg, Tennessee, peacefully passed away, Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

William was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971 where he served two years in Germany. He was a Correctional Officer at Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary, where he retired after 37 years. During his time working at the prison, he affectionately earned the nickname “Redeye” by which most people know him.

Preceding William in death are his father and mother, Glen O. Laymance Sr. and Bessie Moffitt Laymance, brothers, Glen O. Laymance Jr., Sammy Laymance and Phillip Laymance and sister, Anna Mae Taylor Muse, spouse Ruth Robbins Laymance.

He is survived by daughters, Crystal (Allen) Banken and Jessica (Kenny) Bray. Grandchildren, Rolly Luna, Joseph Luna, Ryan Luna, Malachi Laymance, Josh (Sarah) Banken, Reese (Cara) Banken, Kendra Bray, Grace Bray, Sarah Bray. Great-grandchildren, Brynleigh and Myleigh Luna, Charlotte Luna, Hannah and Leah Banken.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 30, 2025 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm with funeral beginning at 2:00 at Jackson Funeral Home, Oliver Springs, Tennessee. Interment will follow at New Petros Cemetery in Petros, Tennessee, with Bro. John Bonham officiating.
