James Hollis “Hot” Bowman, 82

Goff – Funeral Services for James Hollis “Hot” Bowman, age 82, of the Crossroads Community of Overton County, will be conducted on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. David Harris and Rev. Jeff Masters will officiate with interment to follow in the Lovejoy Cemetery. Mr. Bowman was born on Thursday, May 6, 1943, in Overton County, Tennessee, to the late Lonnie Reece “Lon” and Ruth Elizabeth Pippin Bowman. Mr. Bowman passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bowman was a truck driver. He loved the Lord and his family. He was a founding member of Muddy Pond Independent Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and ginseng hunting. He is survived by his wife, Marissa Elaine Masters Bowman; special sister, Maureen “Maude” Pierce-McCowan and Ellis McCowan of the Drippings Springs Community; and a host of special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Earlene Lewthwaite, Kathleen Wyatt, Domer Bowman, J. Thomas “Tom” Bowman, Leta Mae Boles, Denvil “Dink” Bowman, Janie Tabor, Treva Stringer Wilson, Paul Bowman, Beaulah Long, AJ Stringer, and Lena Kendrick. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM. Arrangements and Care provided by D.M.
