Crossville Memorial – September 16, 1954 – July 4, 2025 Dan Kent Jr., a devoted husband, father, Papa, and great-Papa, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born September 16, 1954, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of Dan and Gloria Jean Kent. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Russell. Dan was an amazing man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Tennessee football. His unmatched kindness was evident to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Dan never met a stranger—he could strike up a conversation with anyone and make everyone feel welcome and valued. Dan was a beloved husband to Cynthia (Cindy), the love of his life, who shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with him. Together they built a home full of love, kindness, and laughter. He was the proud father of Joseph Kent (Tina), Jessica, Hannah, Chloe, Ryan, and Bryson, and his bonus daughter Tabitha Garrett. He was an amazing Papa to Kayla Palit (Shekhar), Tyler Kent (Kendra), Zakary Kent, Dylan Kempe, and Aspyn and Jerren Garrett. He was also a magnificent great-Papa to Rowan Palit and Oaklee Hurley. He also leaves his sister Kathy Ward (Johnny) and a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. Dan’s legacy of kindness, love, and his gift for connecting with others will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home Monday, July 7th from 12-2 PM, with burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Crossville, TN. A celebration dinner will be held right after burial at The Magnolia, 387 Red Williams Rd, Crossville, TN 38571. Everyone is welcome to join in celebrating Dan’s life.
