Dale Baese, 72

Dale Baese passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, engineer, farmer, and lifelong learner whose quiet strength and sharp wit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Born to Clyde and Jennie Baese, who preceded him in death, Dale was a proud graduate of Tennessee Tech, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent much of his career with the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga, where he was highly regarded for his expertise. After retiring, Dale continued to apply his engineering knowledge in a consulting role with Sargent & Lundy, demonstrating his commitment to the field well into his later years.

Dale had a deep connection to the land, raising beef cattle and serving on the board of directors for the Gernt Estate, his family’s long-standing business. He was as comfortable discussing complex electrical systems as he was the lineage of a Civil War soldier. His passions included genealogy, history, photography, and coin collecting—always accompanied by a stack of books close at hand.

A self-proclaimed smart aleck with a dry sense of humor, Dale was also known for his intelligence, kindness, and generosity of spirit. He loved a good story, whether he was telling it or uncovering it through historical records.

Dale is survived by his devoted wife, Kathryn Baese; his children, George Baese (and his wife, Natalie), and Morgan Shrewsbury (and her husband, Charles); three grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Randel Robbins; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the laughter he inspired, and the knowledge he shared.

The family invites you to join them for a service to remember and celebrate Dale’s life. The service will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a ceremony to follow, at Mundy Funeral Home in Jamestown, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Dale’s memory by reading a good book, telling a great story, or passing on a bit of history.”
