William Edward Norman, 68

William Edward Norman, age 68 of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Eddie, also referred by his family nickname of “Gunky”, was a devoted Christian man who loved Jesus and living in His Word. Born on May 8, 1957, he was a lifetime resident of the Hardin Valley Community and longtime member of Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Karns High School, Class of 1975. Aside from his devotion to the church and faith, Eddie loved giving back to others and serving his community and those around him regardless of whether they were a friend or stranger.  He was a devoted member of both the Shriners organization as well as Mason Lodge #244. Eddie lived a life full of love, laughter and many adventures. He was an avid fisherman and loved going to the beach to participate in saltwater fishing. Eddie also had a passion for NASCAR and cars in general. He especially loved Chevrolet racing team and Chevrolet vehicles. He loved spending time with his family and his friends, especially his Waffle House and Nick and J’s crew.

Eddie worked in the Chevrolet automotive parts industry for over 40 years serving the Knoxville community. He never met a stranger and was very much a people person. He always loved swapping stories and tales with anyone who would take some time to just listen and talk. Thank you to everyone who stopped and took time to share in those conversations and made Gunky feel included. They brought him so much joy.

Eddie was preceded in death by his Loving Father and Mother, Esco and Prudie Norman and Loving Sister and Brother, Brenda Norman Graves and Cleo Norman, Loving Brother-in-law, Bill Cagle.

He is survived by his Loving Sisters, Marie Cagle, Janice Norman, and Jane (Ken) Lowe.

Eddie is also survived by special lifelong devoted friends, Jimmy Freshour (who is like a brother and is very special to Eddie), Dale McFalls, Brent Sammons, Doug Cartwright, Eddie Anderson. Gunky loved his family so much and spent as much time with them as he could. They shared many laughs and memories over the years. We love you Gunky, just as much as you loved us!

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 4-6 pm at Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1922 Marietta Church Rd. Knoxville, TN.

The Funeral Service will begin at 6 pm with Rev. Don Hubbard and Rev. Billy Bell officiating.  A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday morning,  October 14, 2025 at 11:00 am in the church cemetery.
