Stephanie Loraine House, 79
Stephanie Loraine House passed from this world on December 16, 2025. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Jack Camp and Doris Bronowski. Stephanie’s life was defined by caregiving. It was in her nature and in her blood to take care of others, and she did so without hesitation or condition. She truly never met a stray she did not take in—human or animal alike. If someone was hungry, Stephanie fed them; if they needed a place to stay, her door was open. Her heart was wide, her compassion deep, and she worked tirelessly to find the good in most people. For more than 20 years, Stephanie devoted herself to rescuing dogs, with a special passion for geriatric dogs who needed extra love and patience. She rescued hundreds of dogs over the years and had a special fondness for Boston Terriers. Her work included involvement with CASA and Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee, where she advocated fiercely for animals who could not advocate for themselves. Beyond animal rescue, Stephanie also helped and advocated for individuals with special needs, supporting access to housing and opportunities to develop work skills. When she had time, she enjoyed writing and authored screenplays and novels over the course of her life. Stephanie loved hard, lived kindly, and gave selflessly. She was a devoted wife and cherished her marriage of 42 years to her beloved husband, John House. She is survived by her husband, John House; her children, Ray Reece, Michelle Brock, Marsha Kennedy, Sunny Van Straten, Jenny Bryant, and Elizabeth Perry; as well as 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Camp and Doris and Ace Azamber and her brother, Steven Camp. Stephanie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, and by the many lives—both two-legged and four-legged—that were forever changed by her kindness.
