John A. “Opie” Davis, 53
John A. “Opie” Davis passed away peacefully on Sunday February 1, 2026, at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center surrounded by family. Johnny was born March 9, 1973, and life changed for his parents, as he was the first boy out of the siblings.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Madaline Davis and Chester and Nydia Galloway; Parents, Deloris Galloway and Charles Davis; also Brother-in-law and best friend Tommy Petrey.
He is survived by his brother Ricky and 8 sisters, Regina, Kim, Ronda, Patty, Charlis, Darlla, Candice and Tendre, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends that loved him so deeply.
Johnny AKA Opie was known for his kind heart, easygoing nature, and deep love for the outdoors. Some of his happiest moments were spent outside, especially while fishing. Whether he was casting a line, enjoying the quiet, or sharing stories, he found peace in nature and joy in the simple things. He also had a great passion for horses. He had a rare gift and deep connection with them, and understanding that couldn’t be taught, only felt.
Being an uncle was one of Johnny’s greatest joys. He was always playing, joking, and making memories with his nieces and nephews, who knew him as a constant source of fun, protection, and love. Johnny had a gentle sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him. He didn’t need to say much, his presence alone made people feel comfortable and cared for. He was steady, thoughtful, and someone you could always count on.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. His memory will live on in peaceful moments outdoors, shared laughter, and the love he gave so freely.
The family will have a Celebration of Life on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the Sunbright City Hall in Sunbright from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Schubert Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of John Arthur “Opie” Davis.
