Elsie (Reed) Lewis passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at the age of 86. Elsie was the loving wife of Larry Lewis who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents Henderson and Rachel Reed along with several siblings including Rev. Fred Reed and June Mahan.

She is survived by her sister Sue (Bob) Bernard. She is also survived by her three children, Teresa Lewis, Becky (Darryl) Epley and Brian (Whitney) Lewis. Grandchildren: Caleb (Katherine), Joshua (Brittany), Luke, Rebekah (Andrew), Eli, Andrew, Timothy, Rachel, Beckett, and Barrett. Great-grandchildren: Melody, Seth, Ruth, Lily, and Oliver.

Elsie was born in 1939 in Thorn Hill, TN and graduated from Sneedville High School in 1958. She moved to Knoxville in 1959 and married Larry in 1963. Elsie became a member of Salem Baptist Church in 1976, serving in several ministries including children’s and adult choir and several committees. She worked as a financial counselor and also spent years volunteering at The Baptist Center at Western Heights. Elsie found joy in serving others, especially in her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Family will receive friends 4:00-6:00 pm Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Salem Baptist Church 8201 Hill Road Knoxville, TN 37938 with Funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Allen James officiating. Family and friends will meet Monday February 23, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville for an 11:00 am graveside.
