It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James Coyle Howard, Jr. on February 25, 2026. Born on April 22, 1953, in Toledo, OH. He loved fishing and watching Nascar, but above all, what mattered most to James was spending time with his family.

James is survived by his daughter, Patricia Sanchez and her husband Querubin; his son, Brad Howard and his wife Carla; his grandchildren, Cody Lee Smith and Christian Adam Gabbard; and a great-grandson, Christopher Lee Smith. He leaves behind his siblings, Buddy Howard, Robert Howard, and Joanne Matthews; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma Jean Howard, and his parents, James Coyle Howard and Anna May Moon Howard.

The visitation for James will be held at 12:00 pm CST on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., located at 2653 N. Main St. Crossville, Tennessee. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm CST. He will be laid to rest in Woody Cemetery immediately following the service.

James’ life was rich with experiences, stories, and relationships. His memory will forever be a beacon of love and strength to his loved ones.
