MAN ARRESTED ON SCHOOL PROPERTY AFTER MAKING THREATS
Police in Sweetwater took a man into custody yesterday after he allegedly made threats towards a business and the Monroe County Justice Center.
Officers responded to information about a subject accused of making the threats. While officers were searching for the individual, a school resource officer at Brown Intermediate School saw the suspicious man on campus.
The school was immediately placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution. Officers then made contact with Damarcus Taylor and took him into custody without incident. A small metal baseball bat and a knife were recovered during the arrest.
Taylor was charged with carrying weapons on school property, harassment, threats of mass violence on school property, and disrupting a meeting or procession.
