Paul Edward Matthews, age 86, of Crossville, TN, died at home surrounded by his family, on March 29, 2026. Paul was born January 24, 1940, in Fentress County, to Ed and Rose Matthews. He was an avid gardener and a proud member of the Morning Star Baptist Church. Paul will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Glenna Matthews; sons, Dale (Mistie), Mike (Debbie), and Garry (Connie) Matthews; daughter, Julie Matthews (Eric Dickson); sister, Brenda Joyce Livingston; grandchildren, Melissa Hinch (Barry), Edward Matthews, Jr. (Lauren), Casey Brown (Jason), Samantha Matthews, Timothy Matthews (Maria), Emily White (Patrick) Aaron Burgess (Hailey), and Alana Farley; 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Rose Matthews; sisters, Helen Adams, Pauletta Ford, Ruth Matthews, and Anna Rose Matthews; and brother, Ronnie Matthews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 1:00 PM. Larry Robbins will officiate the funeral service. Paul will be laid to rest in Rinnie Cemetery.
