Rev. Randall Hoover, 83

Funeral Services for Rev. Randall Hoover, age 83, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. Bro. Caleb Bilbrey and Bro. Mike Kirby will officiate with interment to follow in the F.A. Norrod Cemetery. Rev. Hoover was born on Wednesday, October 14, 1942, in the Sunk Cane Community of Overton County, Tennessee, to the late Bailey Malonzo “Lon” Hoover and Roxie Lee Murphy Hoover. Rev. Hoover passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Cookeville. He was a man of many professions including being a self-employed Electrician, machinist with the shirt factory, dispatcher with Overton County Emergency, policeman, county commissioner, working with Overton County Highway Dept., an auctioneer, and a volunteer firefighter. He was past Master Mason of Green Pond Masonic Lodge #703, a member of Monterey Masonic Lodge #751, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. He was a member and pastor at Calvary Freewill Baptist where he retired with many years of service also previously preaching at many churches in the Upper Cumberland. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting. He is survived by his children, Johnny Hoover of Cookeville, TN, Valerie Hoover of Cookeville, TN, Vicki and Tim White of Monterey, TN, Joey and Brandie Hoover of Cookeville, TN, Gina and Brad Crabtree of Crossville, TN; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie Looper of Rickman, TN, Brenda and James Matthews of the Hanging Limb Community; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronnie Poston, Wanda Hoover, Jacqueline Hoover, Paul Walker, Ray and Irene Walker, David and Anita Walker, Judy and Deloy Bowman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mildred Walker Hoover; sisters, Barbara Poston, Judy Ann Hoover, and Ethel Hoover; brothers, Lonnie “Jr.” Hoover and Marrison Hoover; son-in-law, Mark Sutton; and grandson-in-law, Nathan Strong. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM.
