Roy Vanwinkle, 70

ROY GLENN VANWINKLE age 70 of Crossville, TN passed away May 15, 2026. He was born August 26, 1955 in Crossville, TN the son of Frank and Vesta Bolin VanWinkle. He started out in his younger days working with Gene at Burris Funeral Home. He then went on to work with Speno Railroad and also with J Paul Smith as a heavy equipment operator. He was a kind and helping man who never met a stranger. He was also of the Christian faith. He spent his life focused on his children and grandbabies, showering them much love. He served for several years as a volunteer firefighter with the Midway Fire Station.

He is survived by his children- Maria VanWinkle, Johnny VanWinkle and his wife Kelly and Corey VanWinkle and his wife Jacqueline all of Crossville, TN, brothers- Charles VanWinkle and his wife Kathy and Phillip VanWinkle and his wife Donna all of Crossville, TN, sister- Lola Breeding of Crossville, TN and grandchildren- Stephen VanWinkle, Mabel VanWinkle, Kurtis VanWinkle, Anthony VanWinkle, Dalton VanWinkle, Natalie Lehrer, Parker Lehrer and Phoebe VanWinkle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers- Creed Bolin, Lester VanWinkle, William VanWinkle and Arlin VanWinkle and sisters- Dollie Pippin, Hassie Thompson, Martha Beaty, Pauline Beaty, Stella Davis, Thelma Bolles, Alma Downs and Mildred Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday May 21, 2026 at 1pm at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 20, 2026 from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home. The burial will be in Thomas Springs Cemetery. The family has respectfully asked that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hood Funeral Home towards funeral expenses.
