Mrs. Gail Young, age 72 of Wartburg, passed away Monday June 15, 2026, at her home.

You are not somewhere over the rainbow, or somewhere in the sky.

We know you are with Jesus, The One lifted most high.

You are not walking down a yellow brick road, like your heart once wished.

You are walking on streets of gold, Like your faithful heart insisted.

Though titles tell a simple part, You held a much larger place in each of our hearts.

Your love reached farther than words can say, And its warmth will remain with us every day.

Christmas was her time to shine, with loving hands and a heart divine.

She filled our home with joy and cheer, creating precious memories year after year.

The lights may dim, the season may pass, but her Christmas spirit will always last.

She fed our souls and filled our plates, and made ordinary days feel so great.

Her kitchen was warm, her door stayed wide, And love was always found inside.

She shared her recipes with a smile so sweet, Though somehow, they’d never quite repeat.

A pinch left out, a secret untold, Perhaps to keep her magic gold.

Now Heaven holds her, whole and free, Just where her heart longed to be.

Yet her faith, her love, and memories so dear Will remain within our hearts year after year.

She was preceded in death by her father: Kermit Helton Wright.

Her mother and stepfather: Luvell Beam Smith and James Theodore Smith.

Her sister: Linda Faye Landrum.

Her sister-in-law: Mary Landrum Wright.

Along with several other loved ones.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Angie and Chad Payne.

Her son: Thomas “Scooter” Young.

Her grandchildren: Haley and Chandler West, Noah (Josh) Payne, Autumn Young, Zachary Payne, Shawn Young, and Dylan Young.

Two great grandchildren: Julia Potter and Brody West.

Her brother: Kermit Wright, Jr.

Several nieces, and other family, friends and loved ones.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
