Donald “Donnie” Allen Mingis Sr., 92
Donald “Donnie” Allen Mingis Sr., age 92, of Monroe Georgia, went to be with his
Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Donnie was born on July 27, 1934, to Don and Ethel Lou Mingis in Ozone, Tn. He
was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
After 42 years of employment, he retired from the Y-12 Nuclear Plant in Oak
Ridge, Tn. He was an avid reader of non-fiction books and newspapers, a grower
of zinnias, and loved his backyard birds. He never met a cat or a dog that he
didn’t love or that didn’t love him. Donnie was a member of Loganville First
Baptist Church.
Donnie is predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Barbara “Bobbye” Davis Mingis,
his daughter Deborah Mingis, granddaughter Kristin Hurst, brother Jerry Mingis,
and parents Don and Ethel Lou Mingis.
Donnie is lovingly survived by his son Allen Mingis (Mary Ann) of Alto, Ga,
daughter Nancy Hurst (Ricky) of Monroe, Ga; grandchildren: Wesley Hurst (Erin)
of Monroe, Ga, Kemmer Tsirigos (Anthony) of Sugar Hill, Ga; and great-grandson
Mason Hurst. He is also survived by his sister Velma Holder (Lacey) of Charlotte,
NC. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He will be laid to rest in Rockwood, Tn, where he and Bobbye began their life
together and raised their children. Private burial service only.

for making him feel at home, caring for him so deeply, and for becoming a part of
our family.
