A Celebration of Life Gathering for Kathryn Newton Brandes, age 82, of Algood, Tennessee, will be conducted on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home.

Ms. Brandes was born on Monday, July 3, 1944, in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Leo George and Josie Lee Erexson Newton.

Ms. Brandes passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County in Algood, Tennessee.

Ms. Brandes was a Registered Nurse and was the first RN hired at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She taught nursing at Community College in Richmond, Virginia. A completed work history will be added upon completion of information gathered.

She is survived by,

sister and brother-in-law, Gay and Guerry Teeple of Monterey, TN

niece, Toni Spencer of Cookeville, TN

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Celia Hayes.

The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
