Ruby Janelle Gilliland, age 82, of Crossville, Tennessee, passed away on July 29, 2026. She was born on August 3, 1944, in Crossville, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late Everett Esque Green and Ruby Phillips Green.

Ruby was a devoted homemaker who loved the Lord and faithfully served him by singing in her church quartet. She also enjoyed playing her guitar, spending time with family and friends, and never missed an opportunity to share a laugh. She had a spunky personality and a quick wit. She will be missed by those who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne Hyder Smalley (Paul), Johnny Lynn Hyder, and Everett

Darrell Hyder. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Justin Dykes, Courtney Moss (Gene), Jonathan Hyder (Nicole), Jennifer Potts (Anthony), Casey Hyder, and Tiffany Hyder; as well as special great grandson Rylan Jon Hyder and numerous other great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gilliland, and daughters-in-law, Tammie Hyder and Charlotte Hyder.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 4pm at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2pm-4pm two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. The burial will be at Haley’s Grove Cemetery.
